is technically simple; the
function can be integrated in a regular mixing faucet cartridge format, and complies with the same existing manufacturing processes.
can be integrated in the mixing faucet, or sold as an accessory.
The engineering of the hot/cold water mixing system is made possible by a cartridge that is integrated in the structure of the metal faucet.
This cartridge usually has 3 channels: one entry for hot water, one for cold water and an exit for the combination.
The mix of hot and cold is made by the displacement of one ceramic disk on another. The holes existing on these disks allow to moderate the water channels.
The
cartridge is completely identical from the original. The only difference consists of an additional channel, situated on one of the ceramic disks.
The
cartridge also integrates a spring that brings the handle back to its original stop position.
Both of these differences are of minimal additional cost. In consequence, the
cartridge is not significantly more expensive then than traditional ones.
